The key to having healthy teeth and gums is to take good care of them, both at home and by visiting us regularly.
Seeing you regularly means we can keep a close eye on what is happening in your mouth. This helps us to spot and treat potential problems at an early stage, often saving you time and money. Our examinations also include a mouth cancer screening.
Our hygienist plays a key role in helping you to maintain a healthy mouth. Seeing the hygienist regularly helps you to take the best possible care of your teeth and gums so that you can avoid problems and the associated costs caused by decay and gum disease.
During your appointment, our hygienist will remove plaque – a sticky layer of bacteria which is constantly forming on your teeth, and which can lead to gum disease. In its earlier stages, gum disease can cause problems such as sore, bleeding and/or swollen gums and bad breath. If left untreated, it can eventually lead to tooth loss, and is in fact the biggest cause of tooth loss among adults in the UK.
Our hygienists will also polish your teeth, leaving them feeling smooth and fresh and making it more difficult for new plaque to stick to your teeth, and will advise you on the best way to care for your teeth and gums at home.
Our hygiene appointments are not available on the NHS, and will need to be paid for on a private basis. This will not affect your NHS status.
We stock a choice of dental care products at our practices, often at a lower price than you will find elsewhere. These include toothbrushes (including the highly effective Philips Sonicare electric toothbrush), toothpaste, mouthwashes, dental floss and inter-dental brushes.
